Using Serif PhotoPlus X2: Change Colors, Brightness
Using PhotoPlus X2’s Quick Fix Studio, you can alter and enhance just about any aspect of a photo. Here we’ll focus on changing color, contrast, and brightness levels.
Open your photo in PhotoPlus X2, then click the QuickFix Studio button![]()
PhotoPlus X2 lets you preview your work without making any permanent changes to the original. The Color tab makes it easy to change the color Temperature, Tint, and Saturation with simple slide bars and presets. By default, the Daylight preset is selected, and below you can see where we changed the preset to Shade and made the color temperature “warmer.”

Here we made the preset Tungsten, and the temperature “cooler.”

Here we ditched the Color tab and tried out Grayscale. The first picture shows slight grayscale adjustment and the second is the result of higher blue and green levels and a lower red level. The last picture is what resulted when we maxed out all the RGB levels, producing a creepy, whiteout effect.

Changing brightness and contrast is a simple and effective way to make parts of a photo stand out or fade in, especially in circumstances where lighting conditions weren’t optimal at the time of the shoot. With Quick Fix Studio, just click the Brightness and Contrast tab and adjust the various levels until you find the proper balance. Below, we dialed back the contrast and highlights, and increased the shadow level.

Here we decided to play with the various levels, and we put the contrast level all the way up and the highlights all the way down. It’s “artistic!”
